We must be careful to avoid inconsistency. I am “anti-eating dogs,” however, given the absence of any empirical or moral difference between dogs, cats, chickens, tuna, cows, and pigs, I’m anti-eating all nonhumans. I often find Westerners who would readily criticize South Korea for their consumption of dogs, while hypocritically sticking a fork into a baby cow. And these types of campaigns may reinforce this hypocrisy.
It’s a wonderful picture, however; it appeals to our empathy, which is necessary.
